Why We've Introduced William Morris's Timeless Designs to Our Clinic 🖼️

When we decided to refresh the décor in our clinic, we found that the chairs downstairs no longer matched the new look. In the spirit of sustainability, we always try to up-cycle, so I began searching for chair covers—and stumbled upon these beautiful William Morris "Strawberry Thief" designs.

William Morris lived just down the road from our clinic, and today, his house is a museum dedicated to his incredible work. As a child, I fondly remember visiting the museum with my mum, on school trips, and later as an adult with my husband. I was always in awe of the large, striking textiles (sadly no longer on display) and captivated by the intricate designs.

For those who live in, have lived in, or simply appreciate Walthamstow—the first London Borough of Culture—William Morris's designs hold a special place. His work is woven into the fabric of our community. After bringing the covers into the clinic, so many clients have noticed and commented on them. It seems that almost everyone with a connection to Walthamstow shares an affection for William Morris’s art. It's wonderful to see how these designs have resonated with so many, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere in our space.

Over time, we found ourselves adding little touches inspired by William Morris throughout the clinic—not just because they’re beautiful, but because Morris’s legacy speaks to us on a deeper level. His influence extends far beyond art and design. He was a passionate advocate for the environment, believing that beauty and craftsmanship were essential for the well-being of both people and the natural world. As he once said, “I am determined to do no less than to transform the world with beauty.” This quote resonates with us at Eco Skin Clinic. We share that belief in the power of beauty and sustainability—how what we create and surround ourselves with can uplift us and help protect the environment.

Morris’s ethos—that art, beauty, and the environment are deeply interconnected—remains incredibly relevant today. His work reminds us how our choices, big and small, shape the world around us. In a time of climate change and environmental challenges, his vision of a world transformed by beauty offers a hopeful reminder that we can all contribute to a more sustainable, thriving future. ❤️
